For Star Citizen's 4.3 patch cycle, we developed the Onyx Facilties. Form the start we wanted to evoke a eery liminal feeling as you explore these abandoned locations. These themes were great fun to design space for. Right from the start I went into 3d to explore compressing the player into moody, dim lit corridors that feel like they could be endless while suggesting what thier original purpose could have possibly been.
It was a lot of fun working with the team to develop these locations both from the concept side and from working directly with John Griffiths to make sure all the work we were producing had puprose and helped support the environment team as much as possible.
